Happy New Year......

I could be back...!

The internet is upand running in our house - so after 7 months of being internetless I again have the temptation of switching from what I am doing to post a quick blog. Blogging at work didn't really do it for me!

So happy NewYear!

Back to lecture prep for tomorrow!

Why, when I texted you Happy New Year in Irish, you replied...I hope the road rises with you...I may never know...I realise it was a little unorthodox to sign my message to you with love, kisses and cheesecake but roads were not featured in any way, shape of form or even escalators which are the only rising roads I know...I realise it may be a symptom of lack of internet and blog cold turkey but a simple...Happy New Year text would have been sufficent.

Am I not alone in saying we were all getting fed up of Wally the worship leader. Good to have you back!

Oh, I don't know if you remember (you probably don't) but a while back you left a comment on my blog advising me to read Danny Wallaces Join Me. I had no idea what you were on about but a few weeks ago Nick lent it to me and thats when it all made sense. Thanks for the advise that I never took up until getting it again from Nick. Im just about to start reading Yes Man!

It is easy to think and to limit ourselves to a single approach to Christian spirituality. A 'if it works for me it should work for you approach' tends to narrow our appreciation of other ways which actually impoverishes our experience of spirituality. Urban T. Holmes has developed a means of exploring spirituality and helps develop an appreciation through discovering links between spirituality, temperament and predisposition. The diagram illustrates his ideas together with potential inherent dangers. The vertical continuum speaks and helps us understand our relational orientation to God. This ranges from engaging with God through understanding and theological process to a more emotive response. Horizontally speaks of a persons preferred means of pursuing the spiritual life.
