Going Going Gone…

We shut the door for the last time, drove down our street for the last time, turned right and headed off into the sunset towards the Rotherhithe Tunnel and the Training College – leaving Poplar behind us.

So another chapter opens in an environment where everyone has an opinion as to how the college should be run, many dissonant voices contributing to pulling the college out of shape, weighing it down under layers of expectations and opinion.

Sounds like fun!!

It must be difficult to leave after pouring your lives into the lives of others for so long.

Will keep you and your family in my prayers as endings and beginnings are not always easy.

God Bless

As a Cadet currently in College, allbeit, across the pond, it is true that there are many opinions on how College should be run. The question is; Is anyone listening?

Are we preparing leaders for ministry in 2006 and beyond, or are we indoctrinating Officers for service 'like we've always done it?' Are we ready to fully engage Cadets in the training process, allowing their input and influence to impact curriculum, training, and ministry opportunities? Are we ready to acknowledge the experience and knowledge Cadets bring to College in a way that impacts their training and future appointments? How can we ensure College does not dampen the fires of enthusiasm and conviction Cadets bring into training?

I pray God's blessing on you and your new appointment, and the incredible opportunity you have to impact the future.

Our loss is college's gain...and if you ever need to come back to earth from the dizzying heights of academia there will always be a spot for you on the doorstep of club at 7.30 on a Thursday night.

This post was so sad!

I pray that the life lessons learned through ministry at Poplar will be carried over into your new appointment.

Prayers from across the pond follow you to the training college.
